Amazon sent me the wrong RAM. The CPU is rated up to DDR4-2933, but the Asus Z490-E motherboard is rated up to 4600. I previously had 3200 installed and it worked fine, but I'm not sure if 3600 is too high.

I wanted this:

DDR4 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 3200MT/s CL16-18-18-38

And got this:

DDR4 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 3600MT/s CL18-22-22-42

If both will work and there won't be much difference, I'll keep the 3600. If the higher speed could cause issues or more heat then I'll return it. The PC is used almost exclusively for gaming. Everything is XMP 2.0 compatible.

If by both you are meaning your current ram, and the ram you just bought, don't do it. It will cause problems with stability. If just planning to use the 3600 kit itself, it should work, but I would consult your motherboard manual and QVL list.

It will work with the motherboard. I'm just not sure about the CPU.

I would be running one RAM or the other, not mixing them.
