Will a 1440p monitor be an upgrade or a downgrade FPS wise ?

A month ago i bought a new pc :

GTX 1070 Strix @1767MHz max boost clock
Core i-7 6700K @4.0 Ghz
8 GB HyperX Fury @ 2400MHz ( I'm sure I'll add another 8 GB stick. )
MSI B150 PC Mate Motherboard
2TB Seagate HDD @ 7200RPM
64GB ADATA SSD
FSP HYDRO G 750, 750W, 80+ Gold PSU
Stock Intel CPU cooler ( Don't really know what to buy , so a suggestion would be appreciated. )

Every person who has done a video on the 1070 has said that it's a very good 1440p card . And I've heard around the forums that having so much power on a 1080p display is a waste . I have an Asus VX248H and have been thinking of playing games at 1440p for a while now . My concern is that I will sacrifice performance and regret buying it later down the road when I can't run newer games at the settings I want (maxed out, or close to max settings ) . Thank you for your help in advance .

Depends on the games you play.
If you always want to have the latest most intensive games the 1070 wont last as long on a 1440p vs 1080p monitor.
Since you are pushing less Pixels at 1080p vs 1440p.

IE you have to upgrade your GPU more often.

But will it drop under 60 fps ? Benchmarks show that its capable of 1440p gaming at higher than 60fps but when try to test it with super sampling the frame rate is all over the place . When i use the recommended setting that GeForce Experience thinks are good it works fine and stays at around 50-60fps with Vsync on( If I turn it of the max is increased but min. drops lower ) . Will the game run the same on a 1440p monitor as it does with super sampling on a 1080p one ?

Every game is going to behave differently, your system has strong specs you should have no issues getting games to run at 60fps with some adjustments to graphics options at the new higher resolution.

Strictly FPS wise it'd be a downgrade. GTX 1070 could max most games at 1440p, and the increased res would make games look a bit better. I personally think upgrading to 1440p from 1080p isn't a worthwhile upgrade, it'd be similar to replacing your 1070 with a GTX 1080. Pretty expensive upgrade for slightly increased performance. You could always use the 1080p monitor as a secondary monitor so it wouldn't go to waste. Also what's your budget for the cpu cooler?

Around 80-100$ for a cooler

for how many?

I personally like the Noctua brand a lot if you want an air cooler, but you would have to consider your case size and if it would block your memory or not (though yours doesn't seem super tall). Some of the Noctuas are pretty big. If your case has the extra room getting a water cooler would be a good option too. I use this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181103. Little over $100.

I have the Deepcool Dukase V2 , plus i can move the RAM 1 slot to the right since I'm going to be using only 2 sticks. But the Corsair one is to expensive (because of the exchange rate , its 3x more expensive than it should be ) . Found a Noctua NH-D15S and Noctua NH-C14S . Are they any good ? Im going to have to check the case specs , but i think 163mm depth is about the max i can put in it without a problem .

those two noctuas are amongst the best aircoolers, not the best in term of noise (but lacking in cooling) and not the best in terms of cooling (but being noisy), they are just among the best in terms of cooling and noise. I say among as I don't like absolutes and there might be one that is slightly better, but i've no idea what it is, and it's certainly not massively better.

And what would you say about the Corsair Hydro Series H100i v2 ?

Maybe some suggestions on a better one then ?

It is the best of the AIO's (probably).

BUT they are not much (if at all) cooler than a big air cooler, they are louder than a big air cooler, they are a lot more expensive than a big air cooler.

They also have more to go wrong, they can leak, the pump can fail or the fan can fail. With any of these occur they do not have the large lump of aluminium which will do a reasonable job of slowing down the temperature rise, they only have the water block, which would allow overheating in maybe 5s, vs maybe 30s for a heatsink with no active fan.

All of this makes them a poor choice in my opinion unless you have a particular aesthetic need.

Not really looking for the most aesthetically pleasing , just want to be able to overclock my cpu .

If your CPU is thermally constrained then an extra 2-3C might get you another 100MHz, but if it that close then you are probably too hot.

If your CPU runs out of voltage headroom first then it'll make no difference.

It's the silicon lottery, spend the extra 50 that you'd save going air on a better/bigger SSD and you'll see more benefit.

Or a step up in GPU

I think the 1070 is a very good card , and not worth spending even more money for a upgrade , where the only strictly better Nvidia card is the 1080 . Correct me if I'm wrong .

Yes I have a 1070 Strix overclocked to 2100 Mhz .
