Will a 500W PSU run a GTX 970

I am looking at upgrading my GTX 660 to either the ASUS or MSI GTX 970, I am running with a 500W Coolermaster PSU and I am wondering if it is capable of powering my setup with a GTX 970.

I am planning on getting a more powerful PSU but I am getting the card soon so I want to know if this will get me by.
 


You can adapt some Molex connectors to provide PCI-E Power what I want to know is if 500W is enough for the card, I am aware the reccomended for the 970 is 500 but with my setup will I need more
 
It is never recommended to run molex power via adapter to a power-hungry card. If your PSU doesn't have the correct cables it isn't reliable enough for a high-end card.

You need to replace the PSU with a quailty unit. Either of these below are great choices, if you want to err on the side of caution I've also listed a 650w model, though the 550w should be plenty:
