Sorry, forgot... it's a DC plug into a Samsung HW-f550 soundbar. I'll see if I can get pictures.

The way you described it initially made me think that this is some form of rectangular connector / orifice 😉

If the plug goes firmly, and power requirements are met, you won't do any harm to the 'bar. But - third-party compatible adapters can be found for under $20...

Yeah, I have a universal power supply. I plugged it in, and it fits snugly. Voltage matches, polarity, and plenty of amperage. It's also a laptop power adapter, but I'm not sure if that makes a difference. I just got this sound bar, in used condition, and haven't been able to power it on at all. It seems like it might be broken, then.
