I have been upgrading my computer so I can play SWTOR. Two things I am worried about are my cpu and gpu. My cpu is an Intel Pentium Dual-Core E2160 that i have bsel modded to run at 2.4
Also have 4 gigs of ram and running windows vista 32bit.
Was wondering how a 8800 gt would run swtor?

Thanks for the advice. I am really hoping to have a new machine soon but I am in the middle of building a new home so a computer isnt in the budget at the moment.I havent played any games for a couple of years now and was just looking to upgrade as cheap as i could until I can save up for a new build. I found that psu on newegg for $24 after the rebate and was looking for a video card and cant make up my mind.
Too many choices lol!! So for playing a MMO who has sthe better card, Ive read that nvidia is better for first person shooters while amd is the way to go for MMOs.
Thanks

Thanks ya i finally realized after several days of researching on toms hardware that i was gonna need a new PSU! I wish I would have done more earlier...I bought a new gpu from newegg last week it was the shellshocker special only $12 after rebate...thought i was really upgrading from my old 7300 nvidia..

I had bought a nvidia gt 210 lol :pfff:

So now I am reading up everything I can

One of best card from nvidia is 8800gt. Cheap but performance titan. Mine is a bit better a 8800gtx card. Things r pretty ok at low resolution with occasional system a crash while playing some the latest games (yet to check bf3).I will survive for this year. I will upgrade after id software releases doom 4. The way everything r with id's rage, this time doom4 may not have a high graphic requirement , 60 fps max. But, will wait for doom release.

i m not sure. All news available are bit vague .Most probably will be based on same rage engine max fps 60. All the screen shots available on the net are really cool.

Yes 8800gt is cheap now but during its time was a real power house . Best value for money, performance, single slot to name a few. could have got two 8800gt for price of my 8800gtx. I should have waited for one more month . Silly me never listened to my friends.

i just built a new pc (i5-2500k) but kept my good ole 8800gt 256mb card. I tried out TOR on a free weekend and play it on high with a res of 1440x900, you'll be fine unless you want to raid, then you'll prob need to turn the graphics down or upgrade the gpu.

I had the 8800GT and the 8800GTX 768mb and the 9800GTX+ which was not all than impressive all cards are slow as molasses now in days.

minimum requirement for tor is 7800. But u have a powerful processor i5 -2500k. His is dual core e2160 a pentium processor. At a lower setting processor has to do more work.

you don't need a 2500K to max out SWTOR but you do need much more power than an 8800GT can provide.

ok been diggin around on ebay for some different choices on video cards.
Found a hd 3870 really cheap-$35
I know this is an older card but please remember I am not looking to spend much on this. I'm not looking to max out all the settings either, playing at all low settings will be fine by me.
