Solution
Your motherboard will not support 125w TDP CPUs let alone the 220w needed for 9XXX serries.

At best you could get an 8320E (not sure if they have wrath cooler or not), but even if you did it wont make much difference as 6 weak cores vs 8 weak cores does not matter much when most games will only use 4 anyways.

At this point a modern core i3 with half the cores will beat out the 83xx in most games it has stronger more efficient cores.

Best advise is to save money to upgrade out of AM3/FX and either go intel or AMD RYZEN (AM4) when it comes out

If by 9870 you were meaning to say one of AMDs FX-9xxx CPUs, please don't get one, they are pretty awful.

Upgrading to an FX-83xx is more practical, but I really don't think you'll get enough of a performance boost to justify dumping more money into such an outdated platform.

If you want to upgrade, wait for Ryzen to come out and then get a whole new platform from either Intel or AMD depending on what prices are like.
