Will a cs450m be able to handle this build?

i5-6600K
Hyper 212 EVO
Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3
HyperX Fury Black 8GB (1 x 8GB)
Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 120GB
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM
XFX RADEON RX480 Black Edition

After using various PSU calculators the build is said to run at around 350w giving me an adequate 100w of headroom. Looking around on the internet I have some concerns due to the quality of the CS450m and the minimum recommended PSU for the rx480 is also 500W. Am I safe with this choice?
Thanks.

Solution
The CS line is not the best.

The 500W minimum requirement is to provide some headroom for junk PSUs (as manufacturers have to accommodate for all options people will use).

350W would be higher than those components can even pull at stock (more like 300W) and a 450W should be fine, but you'd want quality.
The CS450M is not very good quality.

If you haven't purchased it already, I'd suggest something else.

Where are you located? Assuming US, something like the SeaSonic S12 520W would be a good option:https://pcpartpicker.com/product/fZyFf7/seasonic-power-supply-s12ii520bronze

Solution
would 450W be enough? yes
would 450W Corsair CSM be enough? probably not. maybe for the first 12months.

the Seasonic S12 520W is a great unit when you're on a tight budget, the M12II 520W when you want a modular one
for small extra the Seasonic SS-550RT or even the SS-450RT and it's sisterline, the XFX TS Gold 550W
or a Super Flower Golden Green will deliver even better stability

if money is not a real issue, EVGA Supernova G2 (starts with 550W) or Seasonic G, XFX XTR or Corsair RMx or Hx series would be preferable as they are some of the best units on the market right now (they're around 100$ though)

Thanks for the replies.
Sadly I am rather restricted with my choices of PSU as I hope to exchange the CSM for another on SCAN and also my rather tight budget.
After browsing around SCAN this is what I think would be the best choices with my budget. Which one do you guys think is best? Or do you think it's not worth the swap?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
520W Seasonic S12II-520 Bronze Series, 80 PLUS Bronze, Dual Rail 20A
650W Corsair VS650 Series, 80 PLUS White, Non Modular, Single Rail, 50A +12
600W ThermalTake TR2 S, 80 PLUS, Fully Wired, SLI/CrossFire, Single Rail, 42A +12V
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All these PSU's are only marginally over the price mark of the CSM450.
Any one of them stand out to you guys or should I definitely look again?
Shame for the mistake but stuff happens!
Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply,
So you recon the the Seasonic will serve me well and long with the build?
If so, I recon the Seasonic it will be.
Thanks again,

Wattage wise 450W should be plenty for those components unless you do some massive overclocking. CS450M is a good unit. Better efficiency than others mentioned and a modular unit as well. I have had one running for a couple of years and it is still working fine and silently and reviews seem good.
Both the seasonic and cs450m are good choices.

I got a XFX Core, that's based on the Seasonic S12II
I've been running this for 6-7 years without a problem whatsoever
it's not the newest design but you shouldn't have any problems with it and it will serve you well
as Seasonic only uses high quality components

Well that is something to consider... Do you think it may be a better option than the Seasonic in terms of the build?
Again, thanks for the help.

I haven't been able to track down a review for the revised CXM

but do they use japanese caps?
or still this taiwanese crap?
because if they do, I'd still go with the Seasonic. the design is older yes but the components quality would be higher.

if however the CXM upgraded primary and secondary caps to some japanese high quality caps the CXM is surely preferable

also I'd take into consideration the amount of safety protocols the PSUs can do, especially living in a country that doesn't have a power grid standard like western Europe

There's a review and discussion here (the link to the review is on that page) http://www.jonnyguru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13511

There's nothing wrong with Taiwanese of Chinese caps, there's too much bias when it comes to Japan. Most Japanese caps are manufactured in China. And there are a lot of Chinese capacitors out there that are great and better than some series of Japanese caps.

Also, did you know the RMA rates for Corsair power supplies made by CWT since 2014 are below 1%? In addition, the RMA rates for Corsair power supplies made by Seasonic, since 2014, is also under 1% but is actually higher than the CWT RMA rate. You know, everyone says all these CX PSUs are dying and so forth, but the only data we actually have shows that they are proving to be quite reliable IMO.

will certainly check that one out

but when I look around the boards and people suffer a PSU failure and it's not a noname PSU, it's mostly a Corsair Cx or Cs.
also RMA rates don't tell the whole story, as people who know jack about building a computer usually don't get a good quality PSU and often don't even RMA it when it dies after 2-3 years but just buy a new computer. statistics are complex.

EDIT: looks really solid. 105°C caps, DC-DC regulation, OCP, OVP, UVP, OBT, good V12 output - very nice unit

they both will do. go with the price.
if the CXM is seriously more expensive than the Seasonic, go with Seasonic
if they're around the same price, go with the CXM

Hi guys,
I haven't brought it just yet but I think have made the decision to go with the Seasonic S1211-520. Although its getting a bit now, it doesn't seem to be getting obsolete and lots of people are still buying it and very happy with it.
The Seasonic S1211-520 is actually a bit more expensive than the CX450M but i'm still thinking the Seasonic might be the right choice. Also the extra 60w (over the CX450M) might be useful/safer for overclocking or potentially crossfire with the RX480 eventually.
This hasn't changed my decision but also the Seasonic S1211-520 seems to be better scoring on this https://uk.hardware.info/comparisontable/edit/1903498/sort-spec/18815
I believe the Seasonic is as electrically safe as the CX450M.
The whole aim of the build is for it to be as future-proof as possible and the Seasonic seems to be the one I think.
I will be buying the PSU later today so let me know if you believe I am about to make a bad choice.
Thanks allot all!

EDIT: Mind you, In terms of rails the CX450M has 1 12v 37.4A rail and the Seasonic has 2 12v 20A rails. Should this make a difference to my decision?
Thanks

Ok, looking at it the CX550M would probably be more suitable but at a higher price. At a brief look around the internet the quality of the components doesn't seem as good but to be honest I think it should be OK as i'm going to have a lot of headroom for starters and it does have a single rail of 45.8A which is good and should hold up if I want to stretch to crossfire in the future.
After pleasant surprise of cheaper delivery fees than I thought for the other components, I think my budget should be able to stretch to CX550M.
Many thanks.
