[SOLVED] Will a ddr4 2666mhz ram matchwith my mobo and processor?

Hi i want to know will any 2666mhz ddr4 ram match with my motherboard and proccesoor?

Nothing is certain when it comes to unknown memory modules thats why its best to shop for tested ram, either from the motherboard manufacturers QVL list or the memory manufacturers.

It should but will run at the slower 2400hz speed so you might be better off with slower ram that has tighter timings = better performance.

Yeah motherboard chipset is limited to 2400. If where you are, 2666 is the only available ram, they might run at 2400. I say might because i think it depends if the ram has an spd profile of 2400. If not, there's a chance they'll only run at 2133.

Ok thank you for helping. So all the models of ram in the QVL will work on it ok, but will my processor support it

Processor supports up to 2400 but if motherboard was a Z series then faster memory could be utilised. Faster ram on H series will be limited to 2400.

2666 ram should be capable of running at 2400.

Should being relative here. We don't know which modules you are referring to and they might only work in AMD systems or on completely different chipsets.

Most Memory Manufacturers also maintain QVL's and it would be wise to check before you buy.
