Will a DVI-D to VGA Active adapter give off the same quality as a VGA to VGA connection?

Hello, basically that little question, i have bought a brand new GTX 1060 6gb and it has a Dvi D output and HDMI, and my monitor has only 1 VGA slot, since i know passive adapter dont work it seems like active converters are my only way out, but my question is will someone like me who has always used vga to vga connections notice any degradation in quality? or will the quality be the same as a native Vga to Vga connection?

Well. It will degrade the qaulity as DVI and HDMI handle better quality then a VGA would.

However, if you have been using VGA this whole time and you use an adaptor to remain on VGA. That overall VGA quality should be the same that you are already use too.

I would recommend a new monitor in the near future to take advantage of that better quality and possibility higher resolution.

The quality would be the same whether you use HDMI/DVI-D/Displayport to VGA.

Being an analog signal though, VGA can suffer interference in the signal - and generally monitors supporting only VGA have lesser quality panels vs their Digital counterparts.

That being said though, when using a monitor with only a VGA input, you're going to see exactly the same image/quality whether you run VGA>VGA or Any digital output>VGA (actively converted, of course).

Good, but will there be any noticable input lag / delay because of the conversion? my monitor is 5ms i suppose i wont have any problem if it even goes up to 10ms because of the conversion, but can it be worse than that?

No, there will be absolutely no difference in response time etc - it will be exactly as if you were running VGA>VGA.

Another question, besides Dvi-D i have Display port and hdmi ports, will any of those be any better than a dvi to vga conversion?

No. It wont change anything. The limitation is the dongle its self. The quality wont change depending on what higher end port you port it in.

It is limited by the VGA connection\adapter.

My answer still remains the same. They make the converter as I showed you in the display converts you need. Just google it.

I would avoid using a box adapter, they tend to fail and cause problems. By going with the adapter style I suggested, you dont have to worry about anything failing.

If you want to ignore my advise and go with a box style adapter. Then get the one you linked. It work do just fine until it fails.

oh i see, you seem to not be understanding the problem here haha lol, i have dvi-D which outputs pure digital signal , unlike Dvi-I !!!, so the the plain passive adapter you linked me isnt worth jacksh!t to me because it simply wont work

Just use a standard DVI-D adaptor, not the BOX type adaptors. Again, strictly talking about adaptor design types here.

is it an active adapter?.. because its not going to simply convert digital signal to analog without a converting chip, btw look at the product reputation, yea no thanks, why does that even exist? D: nice scam

If they made the adaptor... then it has the chip and it will work... that is the whole point of the adaptor. Don't buy it from there I don't care. Find another vendor that has better rating. That was simple an example of the adaptor STYLE. You are not getting the point here. BUY THAT STYLE ADAPTOR is my recommendation.

It exists just like anything else. There are better products out there and there are worse ones. I'm just telling you from experience the ones with boxes only caused issues for me and my clients, I've replaced 5 of them in the last 2 years. However, any with the style that I recommended, I've never had to replace and they been in the field for over 4 years now.

Don't believe me. Buy the one you link and see how long it lasts. That's all I have to say on the subject.
