Will a gtx 950 2gb be able to run games at a 2k resolution (2560x1080)? I have an i3 6100 and 8gb ddr3 ram.

The games need decent fps to run smoothly.

Depending what game you run, it may struggle

Performance impact is different from game to game. Expect something around 20% lower fps compared to 1920x1080 resolution.

Not all games support ultrawide resolution. In that case you will play them in full hd and black bars left and right.

So with gtx 950 you will get playable fps, just dont expect very high settings.

I just want it to be comparable to consoles. I dont really care about 60 fps. But will the gtx 950 run on medium to high setting at around 30 fps on a 2k monitor?

In current generation games I think yes, it will.
