[SOLVED] Will a HDMI to DP converter work for a output from laptop?

I bought the Samsung 32 inch curved monitor and it has only 1 hdmi and 1 DP port. The hdmi port is for my Xbox One. If I get a hdmi to DP converter will it work if I plug into the hdmi port of my laptop?

Be careful! Most converters/adapters are DP (PC) to HDMI (monitor/TV). These probably won't work for your situation. You need to get an HDMI to DP adapter, something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-DisplayPort-Adapter-Supporting/dp/B00JQORLCG. Make sure it's specifically for PC HDMI to Monitor DP.
