Will a i5-760 be any better than a AMD A10 5800?

So my brother has a AMD a10 5800. He tried running black ops 3, and i know it's a new game and all but it would not run even at lowest settings! And his gpu is a r9 280 so not too bad. I think it's most likely his cpu(apu) that is just not good enough. Some guy is selling a i5-760 with a motherboard for about $80. I know it's pretty old too but just curious if that would help at all, at least until he gets enough for a newer i5? Thanks in advance for the help.

I'm running 1080p@60fps no issues on i5-4690 + GTX 960.

A driver update was required. Did you do it? AMD and Nvidia have released specific drivers for this game.

Also, if you're running a non-Steam version it should come with an Hotfix which solves issues with CPU performance.

It's one of those two for sure, for both of you.
Yeah, low frame rate everywhere! He can't get 60fps at all, the best he can get even on low is 40fps even then it still drops to like 20 out of nowhere.

Edit: yeah he actually has like 12gb ram I think.

Yeah, the output is connected straight to the GPU. I found it weird too that it drops so low sometimes.

That's what im thinking too. I have a r9 390 and an i5 4590 and this game drops so much in frames and its so buggy!
