Will a Pentium G3220 dual core 3.0ghz bottleneck the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti?

I'm currently looking for an upgrade from my integrated GPU and I saw this card on sale for about 100$ but i'm worried that my CPU is too weak to handle it. On a side note is it better to get a AMD R7 240 1GB DDR5 new?

Thanks dude. I'm also looking at the Sapphire Raddeon HD 6870 card. Is it more powerful than the 550 Ti? But i also read that the 6850 needs a minimum of 500 watts and my PSU is EXACTLY 500 watts.. Will I run into any problem?

The 6850 will most likely outperform the 550ti. It typically does better in benchmarks. What is the exact model of your PSU? (Please try to be as specific as you can.)

Yeah the 6870 is better, but I would try and stretch for a 2gb card these days at a minimum. If you are looking on the used market have a look for a "GTX 650 Ti Boost 2gb" or "GTX 660"

Yeah they were very cheap for the performance, and could be SLI'd.

The 650ti is just off my budget. I'm just a casual gamer. I'm playing games like CS:GO, DOTA 2,LOL and Warframe. Nothing fancy really. I'm just looking for a temporary card that will last me a few months. Btw I have 4GB DDR3 ram. Do you guys think upgrading to 6GB will improve my pc's performance? ( I always hit 3.8GB ram usage everytime i play a game and chrome is in the background).

Damn, that PSU looks cheap as hell. For CS:GO, a 750ti is the lowest you can go if you want to max at 1080p. Assuming you don't want to max at 1080p, a lower card will suffice. 4GB of RAM is fine for CS:GO but may limit DOTA and LoL What's your exact budget for the GPU?

Increasing the RAM can help if you are maxing it out, but you will need to be running 64bit version of windows.

If the 650 Ti is out of budget then look at a used 560 Ti?

Funny you should say. My PSU costs me like 15$. So how about the radeon 6870? Should I upgrade my PSU to something like 650 watts? Yes i'm running windows 7 64 bit, I'm also going to do some instrumental recording, will the increase in ram help? My budget is exactly 100$ without shipping and tax. Btw, can a GPU from another continent work here?

Yeah I would get a GTX 750 Ti for now, as the rest of the stuff would need upgrading to use a better GPU.


In the future look to getting:

1) Another 4gb 1600mhz ram

2) a Haswell i5, like the i5 4440/4460 etc


Further in the future you can look to getting a good quality PSU, then you would be able to get a better GPU should you need it.

No, at this stage you are better off spending it on the 750 ti.

A G3258 wouldnt really be worth it, and the FX6300 would require you to get a different motherboard (pointless when you can put an i5/i7 in your current board).

Also, as per my previous post you would really need another 4gb ram, and a better psu to go much higher (and better CPU).

The 750 ti will be a huge improvement over your current integrated graphics.

Yeah go for it.

Youll be able to run tons of games, theres only a small amount you wont be able to run that require quad cores.

Use Geforce experience to optimize the settings for you.
