Hi; I don't want to do a complete upgrade until 2025. My specs now are
MOTHERBOARD - ASUS TUF B450-Pro Gaming
CPU - RYZEN 5 2600
MEMORY - KINGSTON HYPER X PREDATOR BLACK 16GB KIT 3333MHz
GPU - AMD RX 580
PSU - Corsair RM 650X
CASE - Corsair Obsidian D450
STORAGE
Samsung evo 250gb SSD
HHD - WD1003FZEX 1TB
SSD - Crucial MX500 1TB
Seagate Backup plus 3TB
MONITOR - 24" HP generic PnP 1080p monitor

I feel I'm limited with the GPU I have so I'm considering buying something like an RX 5700 XT - of course for now I couldn't take advantage of the pcie 4.0. When I do a full upgrade then I would put this GPU into the new b550 or whatever.

Are there any issues with the RX 5700 XT today? It will fit on my MB, right? Will I have to do anything to my bios? I just checked with ASUS and my bios is v1605.. I want the card to just work straight away on my current rig. I do plan on adding 2 more fans.
Will i be okay buying this card?

Thanks!

DDU is more thorough and will hunt down the registry entries etc that are leftover. Sometimes if that info doesn’t get removed you can have lingering issues. Good idea to start in safe mode and use ddu.

I’m assuming you are buying the 5700xt used. I’ve been seeing them on eBay for about 175 or so, though I saw one for about 150 I think. If you really want to perk up your old pc cheap, I’m guessing your board has a bios update available to update to support zen 3. Pick up a 5600x and sell your 2600. If you want more of a budget option check out the ryzen 5 5500. Not as fast as the 5600x, but only about 100 bucks. The 5500 does limit you to pci e 3.0, but your board already is limited there anyway. The 5600x has a bit more cache and is a little faster but is slightly more expensive also. Either way toss in one of those along with the new gpu and that should perk up your fps numbers. Resell your 2600 and 580 to recoup some of the costs.

I've always been skittish about buying used gpus but i will look into that-thanks.
IF i go ahead and buy that rtx 3060 or amd ....would that turn my 2600 into a bottleneck? I was basically just wanting a gpu upgrade at this point. Thanks again
