I would also have to disable these in Bios settings so the it would detect the AMD card?

No, you will just want to make sure Fast Boot is off in the BIOS and before removing the Nvidia card, boot into Safe Mode and utilize DDU to remove all graphics drivers then shut down the PC. From there, install the new GPU, start it back up & the BIOS / Windows should detect it and install the generic drivers until you can install the AMD drivers once in Windows.
