Will a SATA 3 SSD work for a SATA 2 PC?

Hello! So I have a computer HP Compaq 6005 Pro SFF, which has SATA 2 (3.0 Gb/s). I'm looking on buying a SSD KINGSTON SA400S37/120G, but it seems like the SSD is SATA 3 (6.0 Gb/s). Would the SSD work for my computer? If so, would I need any extra cables? And, would the performance be good?

Yes the SSD will work in your computer, SATA 3 drives are backwards compatible with SATA 2 ports.

If you're using a mechanical HDD now, an SSD will be a giant leap forward, regardless of whether you're using SATA 2 or SATA 3.

You don't need any other cables if you're planning to replace your current drive.

As said, should work as far as compatibility is concerned albeit somewhat slower than on SATA3. Sequential read and write will suffer most but still be several times faster than HDD.
Make sure that SATA is set to AHCI mode in BIOS for best operation. May have to reinstall OS.
