Will a VPN still keep you anonymous / secure on the internet if it is a part of your home network?

I've been looking into a setting up a NAS to store music/movies etc. and some of the devices I've seen say that you can set them up as a VPN. Correct me if I'm wrong, but from my (limited) understanding of networking this means I'll be able to connect to my network from a seperate location and access all of my data still. I'm also under the assumtion that I would not be able to use this VPN as a means to keep my activity on the internet anonymous as it would still be sending the signal from my network. I have looked this up but haven't been able to find an answer apart from how VPNs actually work. Would anyone here be able to gve me more insight into this?

Yes/No

A VPN into your home network would make your activity anonymous if you connected to your VPN from someone elses network, like if you brought your Laptop to a school and connected to your VPN. Your home ISP can still see your network traffic.

You can pay for a VPN service that you connect to through the internet which makes your activity anonymous to your ISP.

Thank you, I figured as much but thought I would ask as my experience when it comes to networking is plugging in a router and enabling MAC Address filtering.
