[SOLVED] Will an DisplayPort-->HDMI2.0 Cable Result In Quality Loss ?

Say I want to connect my computer to a 4K TV and use it as a monitor. My motherboard and onboard GPU only has 1 DP and 1 HDMI 1.4 (which won't transmit 4K at 60hz), so I'll have to connect it through DP. If I use a Display Port to HDMI2.0 cable (not an adaptor, just a cable with two different 'heads'), will the conversion result in any quality loss, or is it just 100% or 0% (1 or 0) because it's a digital signal and not analog?

it will work or not, yes

which motherboard and which processor are you using?

Sure 100%? Reason is because i'm gonna do a lot of text-based work many hours each day. I'd rather spend an extra $150 for a motherboard that natively supports HDMI2.0 if there's any loss of quality, even 1%. It just seems unreasonable. Is there any signal DP->HDMI conversion really or is it just 'shaped' differently?

I was asking this for the i9-9900 + Z390 motherboard.

Didn´t read it right, sorry. No, just using a cable won´t get you 60Hz, only 30Hz.
You will need an adapter
using a motherboard with HDMI2.0 will work. These boards with HDMI2.0 support are using an extra chip to get 4k @60hz over HDMI.
A cheap RX550 GPU would do fine as well as a GT1030

But DisplayPort does support 4K@60hz, right? So if I use a cable like this one (which advertises DisplayPort to HDMI 2.0b HDR 6ft, 4K@60Hz) to connect the PC (from DP) to the TV (to HDMI2.0), wouldn't that run 4K@60hz since both DP&HDMI2.0 support 4K@60hz?

That´s not a normal cable, it has an in-built adapter.

Should work though, but I would recommend something like this:

It can flicker in some hardware combinations, but you will have to test it with your specific hardware

I tried something similar and it didn't work. It might have been the cable.
