Question Will an i7 3770k work with gtx 1080

Using my spare parts to build a second PC, gtx 1080 paired with the 3770k and it wont boot to windows. If i take the vcard out it works, i can boot it and i checked the vcard in my other PC so its good. Mobo is a gigabyte b75m-dh3. Is the cpu or mobo too outdated to handle the 1080?
