Hey all,

Just built a pretty monster machine...wondering if there's any reason for me to preorder the Series X. Will that do anything my system can't do?

Specs:
MB: ASUS ROG Maximus XII Extreme Intel Z490
CPU: Intel Core i9 - 10900K Overclocked
GPU: NVIDIA Geforce RTX 3090 Founders Edition
RAM: 32GB Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB DDR4
Cooler: Corsair H1151 RBG Platinum Liquid Cooler
HDD: 2 TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus M.2
Juice: Corsair HX1000i

Thanks!

It is hard to compare. Look at last generation and 4K gaming. On pc to play AAA games at 4K 60fps really needed a 2080/2080S/2080Ti but the same games were available on the One X at 4K. However the One X isn’t true 4K, it would use features not available on pc to upscale lower resolutions and texture assets. The One X may only have run at 30fps although some did run at 60. An example I have of this is Gears 5, I played at 4K 60fps with both One X and a 2080S/3080. Now the pc version looks way better, it really is night and day comparing them both. I believe the One X did a fantastic job considering the hardware performance difference and it also being a fraction of the cost but it never was in the same league as the pc for picture quality.

The Xbox Series X will blow that PC out the water!!! That thing is only good for Mahjong or solitaire. It's barely better than a NES!

x box series x GPU is capable of 12 t-flops
3090 capable of 69 t flops.

your processor is also a good deal faster than the processor in xbox series x which is supposedly equivalent to a ryzen 3700x.

Do yourself a favor and don't compare console to PC. They really aren't in the same league.
PCs have far more utility than consoles do, even if you assembled it for games only.

You want to get a console to expand your entertainment options? Because that's about all it's going to do.
Since the console in question is a Series X, are there any titles available to it that won't be available to PC?

for me its less about availability of title and more about what my friends are on. not enough games support crossplay between xbox and PC unfortunately.

That one I believe has more to do with crossplay being more difficult to moderate, and some teams just don't want to deal with the extra difficulty.
Cheating/hacking/trolling/feeding, or just people being a-hats, is sadly, just more rampant on PC than it is on console - another legit reason for wanting to play on the closed platform.

Understandable. The reasons are going to vary between individuals.
