I'm running a 144hz monitor with a displayport cable but I'm only able to get 60hz. The cable was a really cheap one and I was wondering if this is the reason why. And what displayport cable do I need for 144hz gaming?
Right click on the desktop. Select Screen Resolution.
Make sure Windows knows the correct brand and model of the display.
If that is correct, click on Advanced Settings on the lower right side.
In the panel that comes up, click the Show All Modes button.
Find the correct resolution at 32 bit color at 144Hz. Select it.
Click OK, Apply, OK, and OK.
You should now be running at 144Hz.
