I have a Ryzen 7 2700x with a Asus Prime B450M-A/CSM and want to add more SATA drives.
I have already used all 6 my SATA, 2 for M2 ssd and for 4 for discks and need to connect one more. For this I am planning to purchase additional PCI-E to SATA controller but afraid if I can add more then 6 SATA to the system.

USAFRet is correct.
I added a 4 SATA III port PCIe card to my rig (see my signature for specs) and I have 2 HDD's connected to it.
I bought it because when I installed an m.2 SSD 2 of my MB's SATA ports were disabled.
It doesn't affect my other SSDs and HHDs that are connected to my MB SATA ports at all.
I have 6 internal drives in this rig and 1 external SSD.
