Will Dell GeForce GTX 745 handle an untral wide screen?

Hello All!

I'm in the market for a new monitor and I can't determine if my current rig can handle a 21:9 output. I've got a dell with a GTX 745 and I would like to know if it can handle 2560x1080 (or even 3440 x 1440).

Currently I'm looking at getting an LG 34EM68 34" ultra wide monitor. If the PC can handle it, what's the best method of connecting? HDMI?

Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

monitor he wants to buy only has HDMI and DP...

By the way, FYI, VGA supports up to 2048x1536

You need a DVI-I dual link to be able to run Over 1920x1080 Resolutions.
Yes it will handdle it, but dont expect to it to run games with the same FPS as 1080p resolutions...
In case you dont know about DVI cables... here is an ilustrative image you can use as reference

GTX 745 supports up to 4096x2160. Monitor comes with HDMI cable, so you're all set. You won't be able to decently play at that resolution with this GPU, though.

Thanks All, so an HDMI cord will do the trick? Not planning on doing any gaming, just would like the increased workspace. Thanks!

Perfect. Thanks!

One last question - would my card be capable of running 3440x1400? If I went with a better monitor, like the LG 34UC80?

For what it says in the official GeForce Page it is capable of Running at 4096x2160 as Max resolution, So... Yes it can run 3440x1400. Note: Forcing this resolution will be even more weight than 2560 x 1080 So if your Processor and Ram aint good enough to keep up and compense you will suffer of some performance reduction.

Great. Thanks again.

The PC I have is about 4 years old, but it's got an i7 3.60 GHz quad core with 16GB of RAM. Hopefully that's enough to run 3440x1400 for everyday computing, won't be doing any real gaming on this PC.
