Will downgrading from a 1440p monitor to a 1080p monitor show a noticeable difference?

I've been using a 1440p monitor for quite some time now, but I'm getting into PC gaming a little more heavily now and I don't want to spend on a GPU that can run 1440p, I think 1080p is fine. But will downgrading from a 1440p monitor to a 1080p monitor show a noticeable difference? (text scaling, visual quality etc).

Solution
That depends on contrast. Higher contrast means sharper text, however. In games the difference between 1080 and 1440 is quite big because you get less visible aliasing at a higher resolution, because games are rendered differently. Regarding your new PC you're looking at, don't do it. Simply buy a stronger graphics card and keep the i5 4460, it's more than enough. Getting a new CPU and GPU would be nothing but waste of money.
What PC do you have?

It might be less detail in 1080p I think, but you can always make use of downsampling, very easy to activate if you have a Nvidia GPU, not too sure about the AMD version as I have never tried it

I've got a i5-4460 CPU with a GTX 750 Ti and plan on buying a new computer with an i5-6500 with a GTX 960 SSC.
