Will H97 Plus support over 2TB HDD?

Is there something I have to do before installing a 3TB HHD or is it pretty much set?

what motherboard and what version of bios do you have ?

Asus H97 with American Megatrends 2502 bios. Install Seagate 3TB and the Bios does not see it, Windows installs correct drivers for it but only finds it in disk manager as 128GB and when Initialized if fails with an I/O error.I was told the firmware on HDD pcb was bad but I don't think windows would install driver if that was the case.

okay I was trying to find if there was a motherboard bios update but trying to track your motherboard I end up with more choices than when I started

which one is your below:
ASUS H97-PLUS
ASUS H97I-PLUS
ASUS H97M-E/CSM
ASUS H97M-PLUS

also the Seagate 3TB do you have the model number ?

Micro: H97M. The only bios update is for a stability issue. The HDD is a Seagate ST3000DM001 1ch166-305.

Most legacy systems built before 2011 have a traditional PC BIOS. This type of BIOS uses a Master Boot Record (MBR). The MBR Partitions can define a disk drive capacity up to 2.2TB.

Additionally: when powered up the disk spins up and heads search firmware area, spins down, parks and no more physical activity.

Okay, I tried Ext cap manager but it did not see any HDs above 1TB. DiskWizard "add new disk" only sees 128GB and fails with I/O error.

maybe the HDD is bad.. I would bring it back to shop and have them test it
