Will having intel speed step enabled slow my computer

I have always had it on my computer and would like to know if I disabled it if my computer would respond faster because it isn't having to speed up, it is just already there instead

Your computer responds to increased load in milliseconds. Turning off speedstep will just increase power usage.

One thing I have noticed and tested several times especially on laptops is with Intel Speed Stepping ON the system rating is lower, by turning it off the system rating jumps. This good or bad who knows...but a Asus system running Win 7 64 bit had a "rating" of 3.2 and turning Speed Stepping off changed it to 3.6. Another instance the system was rated 2.2 and turned Speed Stepping off and it jumped to 3.2.
