[SOLVED] Will HDMI 2 work?

I believe my GPU's HDMI port is 2.0, 2.1, something that carries 1080p 144hz. I'm basically 100% sure that my monitor is HDMI 1.4 though. My current cable is only carrying 1080p 60hz, would using a HDMI 2.0 or 2.1 cable make any difference despite this?

It depends on your monitor specs.
Lower resolution will allow faster refresh. A better cable won"t hurt anything, I look at it as future proofing.

My question is if a better cable will allow me to use 144hz because my current one is only displaying 60hz. Will hdmi 2.0 on a monitor made when hdmi 1.4 was the norm make a difference or no?

The monitor is 144hz and worked with dvi on my old gpu is what I said. I need to know if the hdmi 2.0 cable will transfer 144hz or keep it at 60hz which is my current situation. Acer 276hl
