Firstly, yes my system can run 64 bit windows but it only came with 32 bit and windows does not utilize all of my ram thanks to that. I was hoping I would either be able to upgrade to a 64 bit widows 10 when my download is available or that windows 10 32 bit will not have that memory restriction like old 32 bit versions do.

Solution
Just to expand on what jitpublisher said; there is no direct path.
To use the 'free' upgrade you will need to download the 64bit windows10 (same version that you have) and create your bootable media. The allow the 32b installed version to do the normal upgrade. This will now store your windows 10 'key' out on Microsofts cloud. Once your key is in the cloud, you can use your 64bit boot media and install windows10 64bit followed by all your programs.
