Hello comrads! Now my RIG config is core 2 quad Q6600 @ 2.4 GHz, 4 Gb DDRII RAM 800MHz, PCI-E 1.1 motherboard and geforce GTX660 MSI OC 2Gb edition. I wonder if i will get significant performance gain for gaming by upgrading to PCI-e 3.0, core i5 4670, 8 Gb DDRIII 1600 MHz cl9

Have a nice day, and thank you very much for replying!

Hello.

I had nearly same PC before upgrading.
Q6600@2,4Ghz, 4GB DDR2 800Mhz, GTX570 (its like GTX660 minus 10-15%).
And I upgraded to Haswell.
Even at the heavy GPU depended 3Dmark11 I gained around 30%. (This was a benchmark that I did before and after the upgrade and I used the compare tool.)
In other more CPU depending scenarios you will get more than 30%. (sometimes even more than 100%.)
But there will be times that you will get less.
A good example of great gaining making the Metro Last Light with GTX570 playable with medium settings at 1080p:

It's worth it. Go for it :)

edit: this is the review that I took the chart: Upgrading from Intel...
Yes you will - you may get better performance, depending on what games you play, by getting a cooler and over clocking your cpu. I had my 6600 running at 3.24GHz for years. Just changed the multiplier with no voltage increase - your cpu may be a little different.

Yes.
It will VARY a lot between games though. For example, Skyrim is fairly demanding on the CPU, whereas some racing games aren't as demanding.

I recommend the i5-4670K instead as it's overclockable. Even a very light overclock to 4.2GHz gives you a 10% boost over the i5-4670.

Example:
I don't know where your CPU sits on this graph, but the i5-4670K would be at the TOP.

If we look at a stock Q6600 vs i5-2500K as a guide and extrapolate the better performance of the newer i5 then your system may perform as much as 2x better (i.e. 30FPS vs 60FPS): http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/287?vs=53

Sure, i am planing to upgrade everything excluding my GTX660. The motherboard of new set will have LGA 1150 socket
