I will be getting a new motherboard, and my question is if I need to format my HDD. I currently have an Intel DB85FL mobo and I will buy an Gigabyte B85 mobo so they have the same chipset.

New motherboard often (but not always) requires a fresh OS install.
Be prepared for if it does, be glad if it doesn't.

But be prepared.
