Will i5 4670k work with ASRock H97M Pro4 right out of the box?

Or do I need to upgrade BIOS or something?

Yes. That's a Haswell processor. The ones that had potential issues were Haswell refresh like the 4690k.

It even looks like it can handle Haswell refresh out of the box as well:

I would pick the 4690k. When I was choosing I bought a 4690 (non-k) because it was a lot cheaper on eBay. That’s what I’m running now with all cores locked at 3.9Ghz at full load...sort of a poor mans overclock because it normally runs slower when all cores are loaded.
