Will Intentional Bottleneck hurt my System

I am purchasing a GTX 1070 TI for 400 USD Brand New at a computer shop closing near me. This is an amazing deal but, I think it's too much. They also have gtx 1060 6GB Strix priced at 380 which would be less of a bottleneck, but for 20 dollars more I feel the massive upgrade would be more worthwile ( based off benchmarks, I'm not a computer wizard). I've researched these cards and asked about my most efficient money making decision on this forum therefore I'm planning on spending off my money on my GPU rather than upgrading my i5 4460 and mobo. I plan on upgrading these in the future, but I would like to know if the GTX 1070 Ti not get damaged in the 4-5 months I'll be saving up my money to upgrade my cpu/motherboard, or do I just have to keep the card stored until I can get my cpu/motherboard situated. Thanks in advance!

Bottlenecking is a condition where one or more component can't keep up with another. It will not cause any damage. Of that I am 100% certain.

That sounds... like fool's gold. A brand spanking new 1070Ti for $400 US? Yeah, no. Shop closing or not, that's just not believable unless the person offloading the card is either a fool or genuinely desperate. Steer clear, man.

As for the "bottleneck" concern, you're fine. You won't be hurting your system in any way. If anything it hurt, it'll be your feelings for not being able to use the card to its full capabilities.

It's a shop I've been buying my peripherals etc for around 3 years now aswell as where I got my initial parts on my first build. They're also pretty close with my dad and have only sold us genuine items. They also sold me some MSRP ram before they even decided to close due to me being a familiar face.

The original 1070 was released at about $379. To find a Ti version at $400 isn't expected but this does sound good.

If what you say is true and this is a *brand new* and unboxed unit, you'd be getting a steal, especially given the escalation of GPU and RAM prices as of late.
