Hello,

ive done 2 days research and im still do not know what to do or how to decide. Im building a gaming pc with these components below and im looking for a proper cooling for it. I do like the case aesthetic and in my opinion the only proper way to use the case features 100% is to use air cpu cooler. Or am i wrong ? I found this air cooler: Noctua NH-D15 chromax.black . Im not sure how aesthetic do this big cooler look at the Compact one case...

Case: Fractal torrent Compact. ( 2x 180mm intake fans ) + from the bottom 3x 120mm intake fans. ) And probably 1 120 for exhaust.
Proccessor: i5-12600K
Motherboard: Asus TUF z690 + wifi
PSU: Seasonic Focus GX - 850W
Ram: Team Group T-Force Xtreem ARGB 3600 and some SSD.
Graphics: 3080 ti PNY

So, what do you guyes think. Will it stays cool enough for gaming ?

Solution
NH-D15 will have an issue if you want to run the front fan.
The ram is 49mm tall.

An equally good cooler is the NH-D15s.
It is a high compatibility version of the NH-D15.
It comes in black also.

Your case is an excellent one for air cooling.
Use the two supplied 180mm front fans as intakes.
That is more than you need. Use only a 120mm fan at the rear as exhaust.
It's purpose is mainly to direct the airflow past the cooler, gpu and motherboard vrm's.
Adding other fans will mess up this simple airflow.
And... if the front intake is filtered, your parts will stay cleaner.
That case can accept coolers up to 174 mm tall.

Here is the Noctua cooler compatibility list for your motherboard:

26 current Noctuas are compatible with your board. The D15 Chromax Black and 25 more.

Haven't checked, but they all might be under 174 mm tall.

I'd certainly think your choice would do a good job.

You might have RAM clearance issues. I haven't investigated.

The NH-D15S variant of the D15 has the best RAM compatibility of all variants. It is asymmetrical and clears any RAM up to 65 mm in height.

Thats what i tought actually too. If i take Noctua NH-D15S chromax.black, remove the front intake fan, using only exhaust - so im good then with the Fractal compact case ?

I can see You have similar set, only more powerful chip. As i can see you do not have any heating issue using these parts ?

What do you guyes also think adding 3 fans from the bottom for the intake ? - i think adding some rgb fans would be good for some aesthetics.

what do you also think the choosed rams ? Wanted to have some rgb. Good enough for playng / every day usage ?

The NH-D15s is designed to use only one fan and comes with only one fan so ram height is not an issue.
Tests have shown minimal added benefit to adding a 120mm fan to the front of the cooler. I could do so; I have such a fan, but I can't be bothered.

I do not run multithreaded apps that can tax all threads.
I have a side monitor on which I keep task manager open on the performance tab.
For gaming, you might expect to use 4-6 threads.
More if you play multiplayer.
You will likely see he master P thread at near max with the helper threads less active.
Interestingly, I see a little bit of activity on the E threads all the time.
All of this is in windows 10. I have no interest in jumping to 11.

But, a simple cpu-Z stress test right now shows core temperatures around 100c. using hwmonitor. A couple of P cores enter throttling and quickly go out.
The good thing is that the processor keeps on going, doing the best it can.
I might add that right now, by room is a bit hot at 28c.
I do not consider this behavior to be any sort of an issue.

This 12th gen architecture is so crazy fast that other limitations are going to be more important.

You have the ability to experiment with fans.
But, I would start with the way the case comes.
Namely use the two 180mm front intakes and perhaps a single 120mm rear exhaust.

Allright, thanks!

Do we have here who actually have a similar set and have done some playng ? Can i push the limits using 3080TI with this NH-D15s cooler ? Im asking because there is so much misleading information around google. One says hes getting 100c when loaded, some says getting around 65 which i think its okay ? ...
