Yes it's compatible.

Decent choice for 6300 OR 8300 series chips.

Yup it socket AM3+ compatable. Most all the 970's lack the power output tho to require water cooling for say FX-9590 or overclocking to that extreme. Most all the 970's only support 125w for this reason.
