Hello!
i have a question about RAM memory. I have 4 gb of ram on Asus A58M-K
The ram is 1600 mhz, CL11 and i dont know the brand of it. I want to add another 4 gb.
the options are:
Kingston 4gb 1600mhz KVR16n11s8/4 CL11 (mine current ram has the same tag, but its not kinston)
and
Kingston HyperX Black 4GB DDR3-1600 CL9
i have heard that the additional memory needs to be same speed and same latency and by that i can figure out that the first one is better, but kingston hyperx sounds better for me, but it is CL9.
which one is better and will both work on my motherboard?

Solution

There isn't a choice with only those two RAM modules. 4gb 1600mhz KVR16n11s8/4 CL11 is the one to choose.

RAM is also sold in dual channel kits. You should...

and do you think that the first one (which is same speed, latency and same tag, but probablly different brand) would work?

RAM is also sold in dual channel kits. You should also make sure to check where your RAM module is to be installed. Many times, with a dual channel 4 slot motherboard like

the user needs to install modules in the same color slots. If the user only has 2 modules he or she should look at the user manual and make sure which 2 slots they should use. 2 slot motherboard? Simpler.

There isn't a guarantee your old and new RAM modules will work. Anybody that says they will definitely work isn't aware of the many users who have tried it and it didn't work. Ill informed they be. 95% of the time what you are planning on doing will work. The best I can offer is most likely it will work. RAM kits on the other hand are tested and guaranteed to be compatible with each other.

SOrry about that. I missed your info. Thanks for the MB's model.

Easy install on that board. Make sure to touch something metal prior to removing the RAM from its anti-static bag or going into your case. The modules are susceptible to ESDs. Ever touch something metal and you get a little shock? That's an ESD that RAM hates and could render it useless.

i have two slots on my motherboard. THanks a lot for the info!
