Will lowering my temp of my cpu will help me to get rid of the lagging of my pc?

Hello, a great day to you everyone!

So, my pc starts lagging. Literally my pc is lagging even im just using browsers. Now, it's been months that I can't fix my pc and I'm here to ask for help if lowering my cpu's temp will help me to get my pc's back on its original perfomance?

System specs:
i5 4th gen 3.20ghz
Palit Geforce Gtx 750-ti
8gb ram
500hdd
Rated psu

p.s I don't play high-end games, only play dota 2 in my pc

What are your CPU temps? Also check task manager and see if there's some process eating CPU usage.

Reducing the number of programs running in the background will help the most. Also if you increase the virtual memory that will help . Cooling the CPU to lower temps shouldn't effect the problem of lag. If you are near 30C at idle and below 60 -70C at load, then your temps are OK. Above that then you should perform maintenance on your CPU cooler.
