[SOLVED] will more fans help lower how loud each individual fan is?

i have 2 120 mm fans rn and was wondering if more fans would decrease the workload and therefore make it quieter?

That would depend on your cases' make and model and the heatware inside it. Stuffing more fans into a poorly designed case will only make it an oven. Stuffing fans inside a case without adequate intake/airflow is the same thing.

and my case is a meshify c so it has plenty airflow

If you start down the quiet path, you will never get to the end.
What is your graphics card?
That may be your greatest noise maker.

Noise comes from fans running at high rpm.
On your case, I think the optimum would be to use two front 140mm intakes running at 900rpm.

If in doubt, buy the faster 1200 rpm version and plan on slowing it down if necessary.

Keep the 120mm fan as a spare, it is not needed.
If you installing as a top exhaust just because you have it, it will only add to noise and will disrupt the
airflow to your cpu cooler.

Adding more sound generating components to those already present will never result in a lower overall sound level. It's an additive process.
