First of all sorry if this may or may not be the right section to post this in but its closest to what I could find for my situation.

So today I picked up a evga gtx 1060 6gb card. Now I know it wont fit into my current tiny little sff system so I'm thinking I should sell the whole system and buy a different prebuilt. Ive window shopped online and am wondering if the gpu will fit into a Optiplex 3020 tower or not. I know already that the psu isnt enough and will upgrade that in due time but if it doesn't fit at all (the gpu) then what prebuilt system should I get for it to fit. If this is the wrong topic forum then please point me to the right one.

Before discussing further, I would like to know your current PC and its specs. Also, the specs of the Optiplex 3020 you are looking to buy and what case it has (Mini Tower or SFF.)

Also, curious as to where you bought the GTX 1060 6GB and which exact model it is?

You might want to take a few steps back and reconsider how much money you're going to be spending due to one discrete GPU.

People tend to think that they just need a discrete GPU then buy a replacement PSU, then lean on a new case and transplant their prebuilt innards into said case and then end up having to buy a new system altogether.

I asked you to reassess the situation since a brand new build would benefit you the most, giving you the option to upgrade later, as opposed to a limited number of options.

A brand new build is not in my budget and I am fine with using a older sytem. So do you suggest I hold out and gather money to buy a new system instead of a prebuilt or case swap?

My current pc is the elitedesk 800 g1 sff with a i5-4770, gt1030 4gb, base psu which is 240w, and 8gb ddr3 ram. The Optiplex 3020 will be a mini tower and has the same specs as the elitedesk except a 290w psu I believe. My best bet may just be to buy a psu and do a case swap.
