hello everyone,
I have a question that one of you will be able to answer.
I am going to build a pc but I think I will have a little problem.
the case I will use is the predator x1 (dept is 19 cm)
and I want the Scythe mugen 3 Rev. B PCGH Edition (height is 15,8) as cooler, that will fit but I want to use 2 120 mm red LED fans the ZALMAN ZM F3 (dept is 2.5 cm) on the side panel.
this means that there is only 0.3 cm left.
so my question is: will the motherboard take space too or is this already included in the height of the cooler?

and i'm gonna use the fx8350 and the as rock extreme 3, but you got the 970 and 990x chipsets with a 20 euros difference. is the 990x worth the 20 euro?
thanks already,

Rick

Solution
If you use two fans on the side panel, then the cooler will not fit, because there are the MB standoffs.
Case: Supports CPU cooler max. height up to 158mm. http://www.aerocool.us/pgs/pgs-b/x1_black.htm
Cooler: http://www.scythe-eu.com/en/products/cpu-cooler/mugen-3-rev-b-pcgh.html
So if you use only one ( lower one ) and you can use the cooler.

For the asrock MB, it is not worth, because both of them have only 4 + 1 Power Phase Design, which is not good for OC the fx8350. If you can find M5A97 EVO R2.0 (6+2 Phase Power Design ) or GA-990XA-UD3 (8+2 phase CPU VRM power design), I think those will be in the same price range. If you want a little bit high price, get the GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 or ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0, that will be perfect.

Solution

thanks for the solution!
I suppose I should take a different cooler, maybe cooler master hyper 212/412.
and about the motherboards I may sound like a noob but what exactly is a Phase Power design? I will probably overclock a little(if necessary) but not very heavy, I want to keep temps low.
thanks already!
