These are my system specs
-CPU:Intel Core i3-8100 Processor, Coffee Lake, LGA 1151 (300 Series), 8th Gen(3.6GHz).
-RAM:8GB Corsair LPX vengence ddr4 8gbx1 2400Mhz.
-MOBO:Gigabyte H310M S2P Intel H310 Ultra Durable Motherboard.
-PSU: Antec VP600p.
-GPU:AMD Radeon R7 260x double dissapation.
-Case:Aigo Black Technology Mini Gaming Computer PC Case.
-FANS:Aigo DR12 RGB case fans x5 (120mm), RGB 240mm fan x1.
-HDD:1TB storage HDD,500GB storage HDD.
-SSD:120GB HP S700 M.2 (BOOT DRIVE)

as you can see i am in need of a graphics card update and am thinking of getting something along the lines of a gtx 1050ti or a 1060 6GB but I dont want to spend my money and then be sad that that it got wasted because of the bottleneck on the CPU.

Thanks.

Solution
I3 8100 is a 4core cpu. Pretty much consider it equitable or slightly better than the older i5 series. So that's not going to be an issue at all on a standard 1080p@60Hz monitor with a gtx1060.

What will be an issue is some games that are cpu thread demanding, like GTA:V or BF:V that have a strong preference for 8 threads. In those games, it won't be the 1060 that lowers the fps, but the i3's 4 threads.

A gtx1060 is a very balanced match for that i3, so a very good choice overall. If there's a decent gap in prices, even the 3Gb version would still be a viable option, as most games at 1080p aren't demanding enough to require more.

Solution
I don't think it will bottleneck with 1050ti, it will work fine with 1050ti but I think might bottleneck with 1060 on above 1080p resolution.
But upto 1080p both card will definitely not bottleneck

Most of those older i5 cps came base clock 2.8-3.5GHz with turbo boost from 3.2-3.9GHz, so the fact that the 8100 comes only base 3.6GHz with a higher IPC, will Not be an issue as far as turbo boost goes.

The i3 8100 is just a little better than a i5 4690, even with its clock rate 300MHz slower than the i5's turbo of 3.9GHz.

That's plenty of cpu power for a gtx1060 at 1080p@60Hz
