I'm in the process of slowly building a new PC. I got the motherboard a while ago (MSI Z790-A WIFI DDR4) and plan to get a 13700K soon enough. Currently I have an 8700 paired with G. Skill TridentZ DDR4-4400 32GB. I plan to use the same ram once I upgrade but I was reading that the Raptor Lake only (Safely) allows 1.35v against the 1.5v rating of the RAM that I have.
So, my question is will I be fine with using this RAM with the 13700k? Will I just have to underclock the RAM a bit? If I do underclock would that still be better than picking up a set of DDR4 that can run at its max operational value? I did a lot of looking into it and from what I can tell there's no need for me to go buy a DDR5 Motherboard and DDR5 RAM. The performance differences are negligible it seems.. however I don't want to have to lower the power of my components too much just to not worry about killing my system.
Thanks in advance to anyone that can give me some info or help me out. I haven't built a pc in 5 years now so I just want to make sure I don't shoot myself in the foot later on.
