Was wondering if my FX-8350 will bottleneck the 1080? and if it does by how much? should i just wait to get an intel processor and mobo?

Solution
Anything that utilizes all 8 threads? Possibly yes possibly no. Most likely no. Anything that utilizes under 8 threads and is a triple A title? Possibly. Probably. Honestly, it isn't exactly a good pairing to have a 1080 with an 8350. Tbh, I would go with a 1070 if you're dead set on Pascal and an upgrade to an i5/save to an i7.

in many situations it cant even keep up with a gtx 970

any kind of cpu bound game (arma 3) , or online game that cpu will bottleneck

if you want to step up to a 1080, then it's time to upgrade to an i5 setup

i don't know mate , i come from a strictly middle class background , i'll probably never can afford to buy an LGA 2011(3) cpu , but what i know even with my 6600k i5 and my 390x , my computer becomes like a vacuum cleaner in a game like doom , even when i play only HD and with everything on mid settings ...

i don't know mate , i play doom sometimes and even in multiplayer (which requires less graphics) , when i take off my headset , i hear my whole thing going like wooooooooo , it's so disappointing after spending so much on the biggest chassis on the entire planet (cooler master cosmos II) lol , i think if i had a transparent case , like some people do , the transparent part would melt too

on a large majority of games their isnt a single better cpu than that i5 and a 390x is a very nice gpu

i honestly don't know what's wrong with my system , i think it's my motherboard overheating , cause it's usually the chassis fans top , rear and front that work really hard in doom , lol , my mobo is only a z170x gaming 3 , do you think if i make use of my old r9 270x on the second slot it can use that too , in doom ? with direct x 12 i mean , and do you believe that would be better than a single card ? thank you

yes it's quite decent ,

i bought it for its 8 Gb of vram cause , my old 270x only had 2 and it was lagging behind in virtually every game , 8 Gb of vram will probably give me sometime to replenish my credits , and i can also try overclocking it with water cooler too later

You gaming 4k? If not, then there really would be no difference if you just get a 970. If you game on anything above 1080p, Then yes, I'd recommend getting a better cpu. Have you thought of overclocking before you get a new chip?

i didn't run a monitoring software to be honest , but i'm considering downloading and installing the gigabyte software that says automatically overclocks the cpu , cause i have no clue as to what to do in the BIOS

for the gpu , i have to register my card to get overclocking software ! and that is only for 1 year ! that's too much to do , and i'm currently using AMD overdrive

yes the thermal paste is applied properly and with care , but the 6600K doesn't come with any sort of cooler you have to buy your own aftermarket :)

Right... I'd check Hardware Monitor, MSI afterburner, and speedfan for hardware monitoring.
I also wouldn't get a software to "automatically overclock" your machine. I would learn to do it manually--but that's for a different thread. It's tedious, but it's more stable than automatic overclocking.

it's my case fans mate , i can hear them running , but i will install the gigabyte software anyhow to see how they're running :)

{We broke off the actual thread, but its ok :)}

Fix the positions of your fans. How many fans ya got? Intake/exhaust? Figure out the CFM of the system and fix it accordingly. You ocing your 390x?

it's a software by the manufacturer , gigabyte , and not a third party software like cpu z or gpu z

thank you!
