Will my hard-drive fail soon? (Image)

I opened Crystal Disk Info, but it gave me the error or Caution message. Is it okay?

My harddrive is 3 month old.

CrystalDiskInfo is a great program, but, to me, seems to be a bit paranoid. I would try an actual S.M.A.R.T. test as well. To do a quick S.M.A.R.T. check without installing any third-party software, you can use a few commands included with Windows. First, open a Command Prompt window. (Press the Windows key, type Command Prompt, and press Enter.)

In the Command Prompt window, type the following commands, pressing Enter after each:

wmic
diskdrive get status

If everything is working properly, you should see the status OK displayed. Other statuses can indicate problems or errors retrieving S.M.A.R.T. information.

If you have used either of these tools – or another reputable program – and have seen an error, this does not mean your hard drive is going to fail immediately. However, if there’s a S.M.A.R.T. error, you should assume that your hard drive is in the process of failing. A complete failure could come in a few minutes, a few months, or – in some cases — even a few years. However long it takes, you should not trust the hard drive with your data in the meantime.

Edit: Damn i thought its not gonna happen with Caviars...as it did with Seagates.

I'm not sure how much I would trust the drive, even if it's only a few months old. I have a few Western Digitals in a NAS from 2010 or so (5 years of 24/7 operation) and one just failed from having a pending sector count of 8/uncorrectible sector count 8.

What those numbers mean:

Pending sector count: Means that a sector had some glitches trying to read a particular sector, and it is lined up to be moved to a different sector and remapped so that sector will no longer be useable. It is considered critical as data in these sectors can potentially be lost in the future and may be a sign of a degrading drive.

Uncorrectable sector count: Data could not be read from this sector and it could not be fixed. It is considered critical as data may have been lost and other sectors in this area could degrade from physical damage.

Now, in 5 years my drive that failed had a count of 8. For yours (only being 3 months old) to even have 1 failed sector is a potential sign of a bad drive. I would certainly contact your drive manufacturer and see about a warranty replacement.

Yep it seems like it, from my experience (and above post also confirm this) those kind of errors will either get worse or keep like is. This way or another its a really bad sign but if those errors don't get to a certain level you might not be able to RMA the drive. I know the procedure with Seagates since I've RMA'ed few of them... 🙁
Even it will not get worse and you are not getting any other symptoms of drive instability (freezes, crashes) you are still having that bad feeling something gonna happen soon. The drive is not "trusted" anymore .
