[SOLVED] Will my HDD password work on the same hardware after motherboard replacement?

Hi All,

I have a HDD on which I set the HDD password. I have this password, did not forget it. But in the meantime my laptop had a motherboard failure, so I have to order a new one. My question is, that will my old HDD with y known HDD password boot on the same hardware, but with a new motherboard in place?
I assume it should, right?
What can I do if it doesn't?

If the password on the HDD was placed while in your OS, then the password will need reentry when you want to access it. Might want to read through this.

Some HDD passwords are encoded by the BIOS on the motherboard. Different vendors encode the passwords differently, so there is no guarantee that your password will work.

Completely unknown. AS above, different manufacturers do things differently.

Do you have a known good backup of all this data?
Being the OS drive, a full drive backup?
