Will my laptop be harmed if I keep dedicated graphics enabled forever?

OK so I got a new laptop, and it has 8 gb ram, i7 quad core processor and an Nvidia GTX 850m graphics card. I'm perfectly fine with the FPS I get when I manually select the graphics card everytime I start up the game, but I want to know if when I keep the nvidia graphics card enabled, will it harm my laptop in ANY way? So, for the Nvidia users, if I right click my desktop, than go to Nvidia Control Panel and press manage 3d settings, than go to global settings and than I select the preferred graphics processor as Nvidia. Do I have to keep changing it back to dedicated graphics/autoselect? or can I just keep the Nvidia graphics on? Please reply if it harms the computer in any way, and also reply if it doesn't 😛

Your laptop was designed to use either graphics card selected. Having said this the dedicated cards usually generate much more heat and if you use it on your lap or in bed then it is easy to block those air intakes at exhausts.

In general though, no it should not damage your laptop at all, but I have seen people report laptop frying after playing games on it for extended times.
Your preferred graphics processor should not in theory harm the laptop but in practice it will rise its temperature but mostly in games and your windows desktop should remain similar to using integrated.

I would recommend using the dedicated GPU only for games and use the integrated in windows desktop for the best of both worlds.

So I can keep the Nvidia graphics on forever? Will the heat be only temporary? (while I'm playing games) and I don't mind about the power. So there will be no actual long term effect.

Thankyou so much for your help! Is it OK if I keep this post open so that I can opinions/answers from other people aswell JUST in case if there is something else to it that you might not know? I'm not doubting you because you've just cleared my mind 😉
