Will my MB work with 3 memory modules installed? MB asusp8z77v le

Hi, I have asusp8z77v le with two ram memory modules,
it is unclear from manual will it work if I add another 4gb ram module, right now I have 2x4 installed.
Is it going to work OK with 3x4gb? I use windows 8.1

Yes it should work in single channel mode.

Very little but if this is a gaming rig then there is no advantage adding the 4Gb so why?

I work with videos, sometimes I experience slow performance.

Then the added ram is going to increase performance since if you run out of ram windows uses the page file on the HDD as additional memory and that slows things down.
