My motherboard is Gigabyte H81M-S1

I wanted to ask if I can use the Radeon R7 250 1GB DDR5 with it?
The mobo specs say it has one PCI express 2.0 slot but the graphics have PCI express 3.0 standard.

Help me out. Please explain what PCI express x4/x16 2.0/2.1/3.0 means?

Yes it will be compatible, and you will almost have no performance drop from the card being in a PCI express 2.0 slot. The 2.0, 2.1 and 3.0 are just the versions of the PCI express slots and x4, x8 and x16 is the amount of lanes a PCI express lane is...

The 2.0, 2.1 and 3.0 are just the versions of the PCI express slots and x4, x8 and x16 is the amount of lanes a PCI express lane is running at. You can put a a x16 card into a x4 slot with very little performance drop, (2-3fps or so in a game).

Thank you. Can there be a noticeable performance drop in any case, if yes then when and how?

The performance drop will be unnoticeable, its even possible that there will be no drop in performance at all. But if there is a drop it would not exceed anything above 5fps.
