Current setup:
AMD FX-6300 Vishera 6-Core 3.5 GHz
SAPPHIRE DUAL-X Radeon R9 280
Gigabyte 78-LMT rev 5.0
CORSAIR CX series CX500 500W
Ballistix Sport XT 8GG RAM
100gb SSD and 500 GB HDD

With my current set up, I am looking to purchase a GTX1070 or 1080

1. NVIDIA - Founders Edition GeForce GTX 1070 8GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Graphics Card
2. EVGA - SuperClocked NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Graphics Card
3. NVIDIA - Founders Edition GeForce GTX 1080 8GB GDDR5X PCI Express 3.0 Graphics Card
4.EVGA - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 8GB GDDR5X PCI Express 3.0 Graphics Card - Black/Silver

I am leaning more toward the EVGA 1070, BUT opinions are very much welcomed!
Will this work together going from PCI2.0-3.0? Will it bottleneck a ton if I decide to upgrade?

Solution
Yes your power supply should be more than enough for a GTX 1070 or a GTX 1080 although on the long run I suggest you buy a modular PSU if you plan to make your system more efficient. :)
Your setup will work I repeat will WORK with those GPUs in mind although it will bottleneck it. Therefore, your setup wont utilize the full power of the GPU, CPUs like the 8350 and 8370 also bottlenecks those GPUs since their architecture is very old although they still work but in some games they falter. If you play not very demanding games then you should be ok but you will notice the difference in newer titles. Cheers! :)

Thank you for your response. So over the next few months, if I want to utilize my components in the best way possible, what do you recommend I replace first? CPU then motherboard or motherboard then CPU?

Thank you again!

If you want to replace your CPU I think you'd also be replacing your MOBO since their sockets are new such as AM4 for Ryzen and LGA1151 for Skylake and Kaby Lake. Depending on your needs any of the platforms are ok although if you're leaning towards a Workstation and Decent Gaming CPU go for Ryzen although I should warn you Ryzen needs fast ram to make it a beast but 2400 MHZ or 2666 is ok. If you value Gaming on the otherhand but still wants a decent overclock go for Skylake or Kabylake although Coffee Lake might be released anytime soon just dunno when. It really depends on your needs.

On a side note you can buy a lower generation CPU such as a 3rd to lower or 4th or 5th gen Intel CPU for a cheaper price and also a new MOBO although I don't advise it because you'd just be spending money for an old component compared to spending it to a newer component. :)

Awesome! I really appreciate you taking your time to help me. If I upgrade to this new GPU, do you think I would need a new PSU? can it support it?
