I have ordered Corsair ML140mm Pro. The thing is I'm not sure if my motherboard will support these fans can anyone help?

https://www.supermicro.com/en/products/motherboard/C7H270-CG-ML

I intend to remove one fan that is at the front of the case in favor of installing the 140mm ones.

Corsair Carbide Series CC-9011050-WW Mid-Tower Steel Gaming Case with Red LED (Black)

I'm sure that the instructions could cover it but in case it doesn't or if the motherboard doesn't your help is greatly appreciated.

Since your motherboard only shows 1 case fan connector for the front of the case on page 1-9 of the manual

you may need to use a splitter if you want to mount 2...
Hey man,

You'll be fine. Those fans are probably 4-pin fans and your motherboard also has 4-pin connectors. There are 3-pin and 4-pin variants, the only thing the 4th pin does is allow variable fan speeds.

(Too bad you can't get a Noctua cooler btw.. :) )

you may need to use a splitter if you want to mount 2 fans in the front. Or you could go all out and get a small 4 fan hub and install 2 more 120mm fans in the top.

The one that I ordered seems to have a lot of connectors

Are any of them a fan hub or splitters?

Yes, the little rectangular box you see in the picture in the space between the screws and fans is the fan hub which can control up to 6 fans. So you can use your 2 new fans and 1 old fan and even 1 more for the top of the case if you want to buy one. The little box to the left of the fan hub is the controller for the rgb lighting effects. You can study the manual in advance of delivery if you want:

https://www.corsair.com/corsairmedi...ent/49_001634_revAB_ML140_PRO_RGB_FAN_QSG.pdf

You can also download the icue software needed to control all of it in advance if you want:

Ok I got a situation those hubs don't support the four pin connector that the second fan has. And the other hub is only for the three pin connection. So there is no room for fan headers in my motherboard anymore.

The onlyfour pin support is for the RGB alone and that is about it.

So do I need to get a fan splitter for this or will Sata be enough to provide power for the second fan?

?? Is this based on examining the hub you received? The fan hub picture clearly shows that there are 4 pins for each of the 6 fans; the rgb function hub only requires 3 pins for lighting and will control lighting of 2 fans. There is a sata connector for each hub to power all 6 fans and rgb lighting for 2 fans. The hubs interconnect to each other.

I don't have a usb header in my motherboard...not that it matters since it still works without this plug. Any idea why they offered it?

Now with this, it seems clear that the hub is only for the RGB and not really for the main fans. That being said Do I need to get a fan hub/splitter or will the PSU provide power to the second fan and grant me access to the RPM control?

If I have to get a fan hub, will this one work fine? And is it safe to use it if its of a different brand?

The way it is designed you connect the usb cable to the usb pins on the bottom edge of your motherboard, the 9 pins sticking up labelled usb 2/3. This cable provides the control signals to the rgb module. The rgb module then passes the signal to the fan module to control the fan speeds. The icue software that you download and install on your computer controls the whole thing.

So what you mean to say that I don't need the four pin connector that is NOT labeled as RGB inorder to get the fan to operate?

So I looked at the USB headers and both of them are filled in. So what are the choices I have here if I am to skip the USB pin connection that has the 9 pin? Should I buy another fan hub that connects both the fans?

If you do not use the USB header you will not be able to control the fans colors and speeds using the iCue software. Do you need all of the USB sockets on the front of your computer? If you could do without 2 of them you could use the motherboard USB connector for the fans. Or if you want you could skip the hub and use a splitter to control the speed of the 2 front fans with the standard motherboard connecter and skip the rgb lighting. Or you could get a different type of hub which does not need usb input, a hub which would connect to the fan connector on the front of your motherboard and control all 3 or 4 fans. Or you could use a usb splitter to give you an extra port for the control boxes:

Ok so just so to be clear on this

  1. I can just use a splitter to control the fan speeds but I can't control the RGB. But if so, will the RGB still be displayed the way it is now?(ie, showing all colors like the first one?)
  2. I can't remove the USB headers because of the way it is and I rather not take any chances. That being said, what exactly do you mean by a USB splitter and how does it help me allowing to connect both the fans and change color?
3.Ok so a fan hub then like the Deepcool one I've shown. I'm fine with that but is it safe? This looks like a proprietary one and I don't want it to blow a fuse or something. Not that it won't because I'm pretty sure its using only less watts for this but still...

If the fan hub or the splitter is safe to use(the one Deepcool is offering) Then I'm going with that as I don't care about the color choices as all I want is just the fan to operate.

This fan hub is it fine? its from deepcool

The Deepcool looks like it would be your easiest option. You could get a 4th fan for the top of the case which matches your old one from the front and hook up all 4 fans for better cooling.

Thanks! I ordered it. Though I'm cautious if adding more fans as I don't want the motherboard to blow up in this case. Is it safe if I add more than two fans from the hub?

Also from the bios the fan control by default us set to quiet. Do I need to lower the amps for the second fan to work smoothly?

Each fan draws less than 2.7 watts so having 4 of them should not cause a problem.

Just read the specs from the manufacturer's website.

Ok on second thought I changed my mind and removed one USB 9 pin header infavor of the one Corsair offered. So how do I get this one running? Nothing happens yet...

Turns out it doesn't power the fans as that software only does the color effects...ordered the hub this time...

The rgb hub gets connected to the fan hub. Both hubs get connect to sata power cables. Then the whole thing should work.

I already connected to the sata cables and the USB pin but the software doesn't power the second fan. It's more or less just the RGB control unless someone else who has the same one can confirm it.

Still I'll wait for the hub
