Will my motherboard work if it has a broken corner?

I am building my first PC now ( I have bought a few before but his is the first time building it myself) and ordered an ASrock B450M pro4 motherboard form Amazon.de . I don't live in germany so a friend brought it to me. Now I noticed that one of the corners that has connectors running through it is bent and almost broken. Is the motherboard usable or is it at least fixable? I don't really have money left to pay for a new mobo again.

Thanks for the help.

If you had it delivered like that, RMA it asap! Even if it doesn't seem to have any PCD traces in that section of the board, I wouldn't hold onto it and be blamed for the damage later don the road, should the board be the issue in some tests/usage.

can you return it for a full refund? if so, then do so.

It MIGHT work, and if it does it might work but some things on it might not (like what looks like the M.2 socket just above it). And even if it does work it might stop working at some future time when you move it or jostle it. It's really better to return it for refund if you can.

But if you can't return it for refund, all you can do is try it. I've had damaged boards and they've worked very well.

Thanks for the answers.
I live in Bosnia and I ordered it from Germany since my cousin lives there and it's much cheaper than here.
I sent him the pictures and told him about it and he said that the warranty is valid only if the mobo doesn't work and it is not because it's broken or has any other technical problems. I told him to send them an email with these pictures but Idk when they will reply. Is it worth and even possible to try to repair this?

Looking at the box picture, that is damage from shipment. I doubt either the retailer or the mfr. would cover this.

Take it back to the shipper, be sure to save the shipping box to show them the damage, and ask them to cover your loss. In my country you're usually covered up to a nominal sum; I hope your cousin took out insurance to cover any difference. I also hope your cousin shipped in more than the retail box: the shipper could claim inadequate packing protection and he'd be correct.

If nobody will help, all you can do is put the thing in service and hope for the best.

Thats not repairable. IMO it will probably work fine as its not likely any important traces run through there, but theres a chance it won't. If I got a Mobo box shipped to me like that I would have returned it. Warranty isn't going to help you, shipping damage is on the store to fix.

That's what I'm worried about. I don't know if it was damaged by the delivery guys that brought it to my cousin or to the guy who brought it to me. Do you think it's possible to repair it since I can see a crack over 2 connectors that go through the corner?

I don't see the crack anywhere near the connectors, do you see traces (copper lines) on either side of the board that are broken by the cracks? If not it should work fine.

And again no its not repairable.

If you are confident you've no avenue to get your shipper to pay damages you may may have no choice but to take it as is. In which case, the good thing is, copper traces themselves are very resilient and this looks to be just bent with de-lamination and minimal separation of parts. So, while I agree it's not repairable per se, IF it works you could stabilize the damaged area by careful use of an appropriate epoxy for use with electronics to at least prevent future damage.

Which connector has the cracks passing through? The front panel header would be a lot less worrisome than the M.2 connector, but at any rate all you can really do is try it to see if it works first.

BTW: that is not a mounting hole, that is an indexing hole used to align the board during automated manufacture, for application of solder paste and robot component placement It probably has minimal traces in it's immediate vicinity, which is a good thing.

Thanks for the answer.
I don't see any copper traces at all.
There are only really thin, indented lines on the mobo. On the bottom side, none of them pass through the broken corner, but on the upper part there are 2 that go through it. The corner is almost broken off but I don't see anything sticking out.
Also, I don't know what the lines are connecting, is there any way for me to check?

If you don't see copper traces then there is nothing connecting anything there. What I see on top is just paint. IMO board probably works fine.

Hope you are right. Thanks for the help, I feel much better now.
